Meeting needs for NC's Environmental Educators

“What do you need right now?”

When asked authentically, it feels good to hear that question. It feels even better when the follow-up is, “I can help you with that.”  EENC has been checking in with our community regularly over the past year, and the list of needs is growing.

We’ve heard from classroom teachers, nonformal educators working in parks, museums, and science centers, volunteer educators, and program leaders that they are deeply interested in equity and inclusion. Currently, access to training on this is cost-prohibitive for small, underfunded organizations with limited professional development dollars or whose low-wage staff pay for their own professional development. Educators are seeking opportunities to learn with and from their peers across the state; they want to exchange questions, share their experiences, ask for ideas, and work through common challenges.  They are also frequently requesting more information about evolving best practices and expectations for both in-person and virtual programming.

We need your help to meet these needs!

By supporting EENC this spring, you will:

  • Offer educators a “pay what you can” option for our online justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion online course launching summer 2021, so that cost isn’t a barrier in their professional development

  • Provide free facilitated community calls and monthly webinars for hundreds of educators who tune in live or watch recordings on-demand afterward. You will also ensure that presenters invited to speak by EENC are compensated for their time and expertise, supporting our commitment to equity

  • Create toolkits, training, and resource collections answering pressing questions from educators rapidly working to return to in-person programming or who will continue to offer virtual programming

Celebrate the educators in your life this spring.  You can be the one to tell our state’s educators “I can help you with that.”

We need $4000 to make this happen.  Any amount you can give helps us get closer to this goal. Share your support by completing the donation form below, giving through Facebook, or by mailing a check to EENC, PO Box 4904, Chapel Hill, NC 27515.
