Scholarship Fund

Think back to your childhood environmental education experiences.  Do you remember a “sage on the stage” who talked at you instead of guiding you to experience and discover on your own?  We now know that isn’t an effective teaching strategy.  Continuing education is critical for educators to stay up-to-date with best practices, so they can provide more engaging, equitable, and inclusive learning experiences for students of all ages.

But between lingering pandemic-related budget cuts and educators who have to pay for professional development out of their own pockets, EENC knows that cost is often the greatest barrier for educators to access the training they need.

The need for scholarship funding has been increasing over the past few years - as have the requests for support for workshops and events beyond of our conference.  This year, EENC hopes to award at least $4,500 for our general conference scholarships, inclusion scholarship, and other professional development programs.

Will you help Us?

EENC needs your help to provide scholarships for our state’s community of environmental educators. You can contribute to EENC’s scholarship fund by donating online here or by sending a check to EENC, PO Box 4904, Chapel Hill, NC 27515.

You can support the general scholarship fund or the Inclusion Scholarship, which was founded in honor of Past President Deborah Miller.  Funds earmarked for scholarships roll over year to year, so any funds donated that take us above and beyond our $4500 need for this year will be used for future scholarship support.  Any amount you can give will help us toward this goal!

You can also support EENC through conference sponsorship, general support, or legacy giving.
