4-hour workshop, UNC Greensboro

Limit: 24 people

This workshop will explore:

Environmental education in relation to culturally responsive teaching and practices
Applying a critical lens to current environmental education practices
The socio-historical narrative of why different races have not seen themselves as "environmentalists" and how to disrupt this narrative

Ti'Era Worsley is a doctoral student at UNCG working on a research project named BRIDGES (BRoadening Identities for Diverse Groups Engaging in Science) that focuses on broadening participation of middle school aged youth in environmentally-based STEM activities. Prior to this, she worked with the Peace Corps in Peru, Center for Human-Earth Restoration in Raleigh, and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. The workshop will be co-facilitated by Christy Marhatta and Jenice Ramirez.
